This is a fact that has not been lost on keen photographer Jeanette Newberry.
In fact, Jeannette recently braved a chilly morning to capture some Highlands winter beauty on camera.
Lichen on a tree trunk offered a great photo opportunity, as did some remaining autumn red leaves on a near-bare branch.

But perhaps the most wintery snap of all featured the bare branches of a tree peaking through the morning mist. Jeanette described the various scenes perfectly.
"The mist creates an eerie quality and the colour of the lichen is a stunning burst of colour in these cold months," she said.
