Police from strike force Puma have charged a 20-year-old male with a number of offences after travelling at 223km/h on the Hume Highway in South West Sydney.

According to police the learner license holder drove a Holden Commodore in a southerly direction near Menangle at 12am on April 22. He had a number of other young persons in the vehicle with him at the time who were filming his exploits. He drove at various speeds over the speed limit, the highest recorded being 223km/h, or 143km/h over the 90km/h speed limit for a learner driver.
Police said when they tracked the man down he denied the allegations but was quick to begin defending himself once he was shown the recording police had obtained of his actions.
The man will appear in court later this month for driving at a speed dangerous to the public, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, unaccompanied learner, and fail to to disclose the drivers details to police.
