There are currently 34 names registered with NSW Electoral Commission. Prospective candidates have until August 4 to register their intention to run.
The local council elections will be held on September 4.
The Southern Highland News has put together a list of known candidates that have registered their intention to run as of July 6, 2021.
There will be opportunities to meet the candidates at various events held across the highlands.

Meet the candidates hosted by Bundanoon Community Association
The Bundanoon Community Association (BCA) will hold a 'meet the candidates' forum for the Wingecarribee Council elections on Tuesday, August 10.
Team leaders and individual candidates will be invited to address the meeting.
Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting in the Bundanoon Soldiers Hall at 7.30 pm to hear what policies the various candidates and teams will put forward for the next three years.
Meet the candidates for council hosted by the Business Women's Network
The Business Women's Network 'Meet the Candidate' event will be held on August 8 at the Moss Vale Services Club between 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
It is designed as a platform for candidates to address interested residents of the Wingecarribee Shire.
Each candidate will speak for two minutes, with a Q and A session at the end(time permitting).
This event is open to all interested residents of the Wingecarribee Shire and is appropriate for adults aged over 18 years. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased here.
