About 50 people united with Cranky the Koala at Corbett Plaza on Saturday to protest for the well-being of koalas.

The fluffy but cranky marsupial was invited as a special guest to the protest in Bowral, which also took place on World Environment Day.
He said that despite advocating for change for several years, that he thought it had "fallen on deaf ears."
"Considering that the same government has drastically increased land clearing, while actually reducing protections for wildlife, these words seem empty," he said.
A protest in Hyde Park on Saturday also declared it a Koala Day of Action.

Greens for Wingecarribee representative Heather Champion, Independent candidate Kaye Thompson and Independent candidate for the Federal Division of Hume Sheneli Dona attended, and spoke at the protest.
Cranky is often a guest at small-scaled protests in order to raise awareness for local community groups.
World Environment Day aims to raise awareness on environmental issues and involve politicians, businesses and members of the community in paving the way for change.
Despite his frustrations, he is optimistic that people demand effective leaders who not only have the marsupials' interests at heart, but prioritise the preservation of ecosystems for everyone.
Protest organiser Leon Gross also urges the Highlands community to reach out to local members to voice their concerns.
