Principal Solicitor at Our Lawyers, Alana Jacquet moved from Sydney to work in the family law area of Our Lawyers in 2017.
"My family purchased land in the Highlands and I couldn't resist the opportunity to work locally within the Highlands community," Alana said.
"Our Lawyers has been providing legal services to the Southern Highlands for more than 15 years. I have a passion for providing client-focussed legal services where our primary goal is ensuring the client is provided with quality legal services ranging from family law, wills and estates, commercial law, leasing and property law, which includes the sale and purchase of property.
"I took over Our Lawyers in November 2018, after already being a staff member and we now have a total contingent of 11 employees. They hold positions as solicitors, a licensed conveyancer, four paralegals, a receptions and a practice manager.
"Our legal services range from helping clients with the selling and buying of property, family law, wills and estates, as well as commercial law and leasing."
Alana said their focus was on the client, ensuring they are informed and updated throughout the process. They always provide efficient, practical solutions which are cost effective and that is of benefit to their clients.
"The Highlands property market is booming. With each new property purchase or sale we also usually recommend updating wills. With the population growth in the area we have seen an increase in legal needs across the board in our firm.
"It is essential to seek professional legal advice in all areas we service. For example, purchasing a home is the most expensive investment you will make - it's important to ensure it is done properly without any surprises."
Alana enjoys working with the Southern Highlands community, whether it be first-home buyers, investors or families looking at their next purchase, local business owners looking to buy a business, sell or lease premises, working with client's going through a separation to ensure they do it the best way possible for their family, or those looking to finally nail down that will.
"We are in the heart of Mittagong and often have our client's pop in to say hello, ask a question or seek advice - it's great to have that relationship with our clients."
Our Lawyers support local business and ventures where possible and sponsor local sporting teams in the Highlands.
After the bushfires last year they ran a support local campaign where they provided clients with $50 vouchers to visit local cafes.
"Recently I've been working with a newly-established support service for women experiencing domestic violence, Pop In in Bowral," Alana said.
