Evlyna Helmer is a part of Whitewall Art Projects with 'Once A Dream Did Weave a Shade' which gives a voice to our isolation, at the same time reserving the right to fantasize on historical themes. Aiming to unearth feelings of vulnerability, frustration, or desire while drawing on ideas of human experience and ideas of collective unconscious. Through a process of collecting, assembling, and composing, inventing a new visual language redirected into a strange tension. During the making of collage, the artist meets the unexpected. What happens by chance, and being inspired by that unconscious act. In the meta material, creating Oil Paintings that subvert a rational vision in favour of finding image and beauty in the unexpected, disregarded, and unconventional. Technically conflating historical painting techniques and gestural handling of paint, with contemporary backgrounds in spray paint and ink. Re-ordering the world, and building poetics on accidents and unlikely pairings.
