The temperatures might be dropping to the mid teens this week but there will be plenty of events to keep you warm. From art exhibitions to a bon fire at the Wingello Forest Endurance Ride, as well as the return of the Berrima Schoolyard Markets, there will be something for everyone.

2021 Wingecarribee Prize for landscape art
- Saturday May 15 - Sunday May 23, Bowral Art Gallery, 10 am - 4 pm
Check out the winners of the 2021 Wingecarribee landscape art exhibition. The artwork was judged by Charmaine Pike. First prize was $3000, second prize was $1500 and people's choice was $500. Attendees will have the opportunity to admire, and express interest in purchasing the variety of artworks. Bowral Art Gallery publicity officer Leanne Haddadi said there will be an array of techniques on showcase. "There is abstract, beautiful prints, superrealism," she said. "I love the variety. I am blown away by how people see the world." Ms Haddadi added many of the artists were locals who depicted the Southern Highlands.

Wingello Forest Endurance Ride 2021
- Saturday May 22, Wingello, 10 am - 5 pm
The 12th annual Wingello Forest Endurance Ride is back.
The endurance run event is suitable for newcomers and seasoned hands alike. This year the endurance run will be a single-day event, with ride distances of 5 km, 10 km, 20 km and 40 km. No 80 km ride will be held.Then afterwards there will be a relaxed evening around the bonfire with musician Dave Newman.
There will be a choice of food outlets at the Ride Base, and seating around the central hub and bonfire.
The Wingello State Forest is still closed to the public as clean-up and restoration work following the January 2020 bushfire continues. The NSW Forestry Corporation, have agreed to cease operations for a day so the Wingello Forest Endurance Ride can go ahead.

Highlands Music Collective - Chamber Concert Flute Fancies

Created in 2019 by concert violinist Myee Clohessy, the Highlands Music Collective will feature beautiful quintets for flute and string. Listen to Boccherini, Arthur Foote, a duet by Beethoven and quartets by Mozart and Gordon Jacob.
The Highlands Music Collective will feature Edwina Carter on flute, Myee Clohessy and Alex Dening on violins, Timothy Senior of viola, and Catherine Barnett and Lisa Kawai on cellos.
Tickets are $10 for under 18s, $30 for concession holders and $35 for everyone else. Book here for tickets.
Distinguished Gentlemans Ride Highlands 2021
- Sunday May 23, Whitewall Art Project, Berrima, 11:30 am
You might hear the sound of vintage motorcycles and spot 50 riders dressed in tweed and their Sunday best in the Highlands.
Riders will take part in the worldwide Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, which aims to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer and mental health through the Movember Foundation.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the charity event, and the first time gentlemen will ride through the Highlands. Event organiser and host Martin Elferink said about $4,000 had been raised so far in the region.
The ride is due to commence in the morning, and finish at Whitewall Art Projects at 11.30am weather permitting.
People are invited to come along to the gallery to see a range of vintage motorcycle on display.
Berrima Schoolyard Markets

The Berrima Schoolyard Market is back.
After an extended period of uncertainty due to Covid-19, the market will return on Sunday, May 23 from 9 am until 2 pm and will be on the fourth Sunday of the month. More than 50 stalls are expected to be there on the day.
Stalls include hand made, artisan, jewellery, fashion, homewares and many delicious food stalls, fresh produce, home made jams, sauces, pies, sweets, french cheeses, charcuterie and more. Fabulous hot food such as BBQ, Japanese pancakes, gozleme, Chinese, Danish and French meals all available to enjoy on site whilst listening to live music or watching the kids play.
Yerrinbool Produce and Plant Market
- Sunday May 23, Yerrinbool Train Station, 10 am - 1 pm
The Yerrinbool Produce and Plant Market is back for another Sunday. Grab some locally grown and handmade products such as jams, fruit, eggs and herbs. The market runs on the fourth Sunday every month.
