Mrs Whitehead has been preparing the series of paintings over the last three years, drawing on photographs she has taken on her travels.
She said there will be blooms from New Zealand and across Europe.
She also said her "personal journey" is intertwined throughout the exhibition.
"The exhibition brings up childhood memories," she explained.
"It brings up a closeness with my mum that I still have.
"I would plant bulbs with her in spring.
"She was a dressmaker, so I was surrounded by beautiful fabrics.
"I also did classical ballet.
"For me, it is my emotions on canvas. The energy from the flowers comes straight from me."
Mrs Whitehead also mentioned that she enjoys to paint on a large scale, with a majority of her artworks exceeding one metre in length.
"When it is blown up majestically it has a presence and impact," she said.
Mrs Whitehead will be present for the opening on May 1, and on May 22 and 23.
