A "Women Walk the World" event is held across the world on April 29 each year, to fundraise for the projects of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) international organisation.
The ACWW has a membership of rural organisations for women across 84 countries.
CWA is just one of these organisations within Australia.
ACWW was formed in 1929 arising from the first International Conference of Rural Women's Organisations, to which Australia had sent representatives.

ACWW funds small-scale projects and initiatives at the request of rural women, its objectives being to empower rural women and improve their living conditions.
Some examples of their projects include:
- Strengthening English language teaching skills of pre-school teachers in India
- Nutritional health security through home gardens for Dalit women in Sri Lanka
- Agricultural training and production inputs for improved food security in Bangladesh
- Small business management and basic financial literacy workshops for women in Mongolia
Rural women are the backbone of families and communities, but are often a silent support, coping with conflict, weather conditions, traditional roles, customs and expectations.
ACWW advocates for their needs through its involvement with the United Nations.
