Wingecarribee Shire Council's interim administrator Mr Viv May announced he had re-advertised for the position of general manager at the April 21 Ordinary Meeting of Council.
The re-opening of applicants for the position of Council's General Manager follows an initial recruitment undertaken earlier in the year.
"While 46 applications were initially received for the role, I was not confident in making a suitable appointment," he said.
"I've therefore requested that the council's recruiter re-advertise the position to ensure the position is filled in readiness for the incoming council in September."
"The reputation of Wingecarribee Shire Council in the industry is not good but I am hopeful that with a renewed focus we will be able to find a caliber candidate.
Mr May said he was confident that a renewed period of advertising would attract a candidate of a suitable caliber required to help restore the proper and effective functioning of council.
"I would also encourage some existing applicants to reconsider their initial responses to the essential criteria and re-submit an application by the new deadline," he said.
At the same time that the position of the general manager is to be re-advertised, Mr May will be seeking a three-month extension to his appointment as interim administrator.
"I am of the opinion that there is still much work to be done prior to September," he said.
The general manager's position description and criteria can be found online at www.lgnsw.org.au/lgms.
Applications close at 5 pm on Monday May 10, 2021.
