Boom recruit Cameron missed the opening month of the season through a hamstring injury, while Patrick Dangerfield and Gary Rohan have completed their respective three and two-game suspensions.

Scott said he was optimistic Cameron would be ready to play next Sunday, and was prepared to pull the trigger on bringing the ex-Giant, Dangerfield and Rohan into the Cats' forward line in the same game, if fit.

"I hope next week (Cameron is available) - but you might be surprised to hear it's not really my call," Scott said after Sunday's loss to Melbourne, which left the Cats at 2-2.

"I'll have a bit of a say in it but you've got to be careful that you don't base your decision-making on what you want to be true.

"So I said during the week we'll make a cautious, well-considered decision with him and I think we're still in that frame of mind.

"... If they're (Cameron, Dangerfield and Rohan) all fit, I don't see any reason why they couldn't come back in together.

"Our preference is to have the same seven forwards every week but I think they're such good players that we'd squeeze them in."

Scott said Geelong's 2020, when the Cats started the season with two wins and two losses but went on to make the grand final, showed "all is not lost" but they needed to make their move quickly.

"I'm sure we'll get better - I'm sure we will," he said.

"Now we've got to make sure we get better quickly enough, because sometimes you can leave your run a little bit too late.

"Some of the issues we've got I think are fixable pretty quickly, some I think are going to take a little bit more time."
