The Wingecarribee Adult Day Centre in Bowral has unveiled its new putting green, which will give the opportunity for members to stay fit and social.
Donated by the Springett Foundation, Tony Springett made the first putt on the new green to cheers and applause from the crowd.
Executive officer for Wingecarribee Adult Day Centre, Helen Denning said it was a wonderful donation to have and will go to great use.
"It's a six hole course with numbers instead of flags so it's easier for people to see," Ms Denning said.
"You can rearrange the numbers and customise the course to how the clients would like.
"They can take their walkers onto the green and some can just watch.
"We're really excited to have this new green. It's gets clients exercising and we like them to have a portion of the day exercising.
"It's also a great hand-eye coordination activity."
Tony Springett said that hopefully the new putting green can help aged people in the shire.
"On behalf of the Springett Family Foundation I am proud to be able to help the increasing number of aged people in the shire," Mr Springett.
"The population continues to grow in Bowral and the rest of the Wingecarribee Shire.
"I was approached by Bob Constable over two years ago to see if we might be able to contribute some funding for the improvements and development of the Bowral Centre.
"In the first year the Springett Foundation contributed $25,000 to establish the surrounding gardens around the upgraded centre.
"And last year we were more than happy to contribute another $25,000 to allow a "putting green" and finish of the gardens.
"I am also very proud that this development adjoins the sporting fields known as Stephens Park.
"This was named in recognition of my grandfather, Alf Stephens. Alf was a leading builder in Bowral and the Southern Highlands. He employed over 50 locals through the depression, also contributing and helping Bowral from the 1900's to the 1970's.
"From some of the windows of the Bowral Wingecarribee Adult Day Centre, you can look out and see Alf's sporting fields. It makes me feel very proud.
"Hopefully the putting green will provide a good way to exercise and improve hand-eye coordination supporting a more outdoor lifestyle, stimulate activities and conversation from the many users of this wonderful facility."
