The Fireside Inn restaurant will go to auction in April, two months after hitting the open market.
Real estate agent Carol James is hoping to sell the Goulburn landmark for just the fourth time since its 1934 construction. The auction will be held onsite at 1pm on Saturday, April 10.
The restaurant at 23 Market Street was advertised for sale in early February but no firm takers have come forward at this stage.
"We've had a lot of out-of-town enquiry, mainly from Sydney people asking what they could do with the property," Ms James said.
"There's been lots of talk about wine bars and continuing its use and most people are considerate of the building's heritage and tone."
Several contracts have been issued but Ms James said it was now time to bring it to a head.
Prominent businessman John Edward Knowlman commissioned the building's construction in the early 1930s to not only provide fine dining but provide local employment during the Depression.
Over the years the Tudor style eatery became a favourite of generations of Goulburn families who held dinners and other functions there. The restaurant closed earlier last year for the first time in its history.
The building comprises the 75-seat restaurant, bar and kitchen downstairs, two residential units upstairs, three brick garages with rear lane access and a coffee or gift shop at the front.
The property is being widely advertised on internet sites and promoted as ideal for a family to live upstairs at the same time as running a business.
Meantime, Ms James said interest in Goulburn as a regional location was increasing thanks to widespread publicity. This was translating strongly to residential properties but also commercial offerings.
In other real estate news, Ray White will auction two historic Goulburn district properties on Friday, March 26. Rossiville Park at 106 Range Road comprises 30 acres and a four-bedroom house with Wollondilly River frontage. The circa 1881 Lake Bathurst at 2769 Braidwood Road, including a four-bedroom house on 3.4 acres, is also up for sale. Both properties will go to auction onsite at 11am.
