Chair of Harbison board of directors, Katie Constantinou shared a note she wrote to her 18 year self, which had all the attention in attendance.
"A true leader knows direction and to establish purpose," Ms Constantinou said.
"As a leader you must be prepared to adapt and give something to inspire to, particularly in times of change.
"If you want people to engage in the vision, make sure they are involved in the process of developing.
"They will find purpose and passion."
The letter expressed some very intimate and personal details which had employee and organiser of the event, Janice Young raptured.
"It was wonderful to have Ms Constantinou speak at our afternoon tea for International Women's Day," Ms Young said.
"Her letter to her 18-year-old self was poignant and inspirational and struck a chord with our staff and residents."
