Related: MPs urge minister to suspend council
A statement to the Southern Highland News said good governance and public confidence must be restored.
"We commend the MPs for their representation and persistence on this issue. Suspension of the full council is necessary to address the gamut of community concerns," the statement
"In August 2020, when the Minister issued a Performance Improvement Order (PIO) on council, Friends of Wingecarribee wrote to the Minister requesting she exercise further powers to place Council in a limited mode until the next local government election on September 4, 2021.
"We agree with the opinions expressed by our MPs in their joint letter dated March 1, 2021 that the PIO has not achieved its desired outcome. We also feel that the current council has neither the trust nor confidence of the community in appointing a new general manager."
