Luke has been playing acoustic guitar and singing since he was twelve years old. Early on, he performed in a duo, The Johnson Brothers.
Luke now mostly performs as a soloist, singing and playing acoustic guitar, ukulele and banjo.
Writing lyrics can be a very intimate thing that requires trust to share. Johnson and Morgan as a duo find it easy to collaborate.
"We wrote the title song, Goodbye Frankie on our move to the Southern Highlands," Johnson said.
"We've been playing since 1988 and it was only last year that we decided to record.
"The songs have progressed and changed a lot from when they were created."
"We work really well together," Morgan said.
"Luke comes up with a lot of the melodies and then I'll throw some ideas back at him.
"The song then evolves on it own and takes form."
The new album Goodbye Frankie features several instruments and has a distinct sound listeners are bound to enjoy and shortly, will be able to hear in full live.
"It's got a country, folk sound to it," Johnson said.
"I play all the instruments on it. There's also a really nice pop feel to it also.
"We'll be playing all the songs from the album at the launch. People can expect around three hours of music and I'll be playing a whole range of covers with different instruments.
"It's really surprising the sound you get from playing a song with a different instrument to the original recording.
"Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger sounds great on ukulele. It keeps playing the songs fresh to play. You've got to enjoy playing them."
The Goodbye Frankie album launch will be held at the Surveyor General Inn in Berrima on Saturday, March 6 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
"The show is free," Johnson said.
"But, with COVID restrictions, I would advise to make an early booking."
"We're expecting a great turnout and several tables have already been booked," Morgan said.
You can inquire about tickets for the show with the Surveyor General Inn at: (02) 4877 1226.
