All five artists were present as the show was opened by a member of the group, Peter Griffen, who also chairs the Glebe Art Show.
Gang of Five features three Highlanders, Michael Eccleston, Sale Saunders and Stan Korytnyj, and Denise Lithgow and Peter Griffen from Leichhardt. They have worked together at group shows for a number of years.
There was a full house to the COVID-Safe capacity limit. Despite a wet night, attendees had their spirits lifted by the bright environment of the work, the smiles on everyone's faces created by an actual physical opening and the quality and interest of the work on show.
Almost all works are for sale.
A good number of red dots appeared throughout the evening to indicate a sale.
In a statement released by Gang of Five, they stated, "The Gang of Five express with paint and form that which cannot be said with words: That period of frightening clarity which must be recorded at any cost, the individual having full control of the process."
The show will run at the Bowral Art Gallery, on Short Street, Bowral, until February 23.
