Barry Paull has been the acting general manager since July 2020 when former general manager Anne Prendergast was 'terminated' from her contract.
Council's top job has been open for applications since December 2020 and is currently accepting submissions. These close on February 15, 2021.
A Wingecarribee Shire Council spokesperson said the recruitment is managed by an independent organisation who specialises in executive positions.
"As per the Local Government Act, the position of General Manager is appointed by the governing body (councillors)," they said.
"They'll hear a report from the selection panel and resolve (in a closed meeting) to offer the successful candidate the position."
According to the position vacant advertisement on the Local Government NSW website and Wingecarribee Shire Council's website the successful applicant will be highly motivated, energetic and ready to lead the organisation and support the community and they are expected to work with the mayor, elected members and executive management.
Key skills for the role would be strategic leadership, a demonstrated ability to innovate solutions and deliver a sustainable long term financial future.
The role will also require a proven successful track record of achievement in a senior executive role, proven ability to manage complex budgets, ability to inspire direction and purpose, develop and deliver strategic plans and work closely in partnership with key stakeholders.
The role of general manager is a four-year contract.
