An historic property near Goulburn has attracted buyer interest from far and wide, ultimately fetching a sale price of $1.8million.
Ray White Rural Canberra and Yass agent George Southwell confirmed that Walgrove homestead and cottage in Yass had been sold to a Sydney-based buyer.
"There was a big interest among buyers for the property with a total of 144 enquiries that came from North Queensland, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne to name a few. There were 69 inspections of the property from 57 parties," he said.
"On the day of the auction, we had eight registered bidders and one of them was an Australian working in Japan and bidding from there."
The property boasts of old world charm tastefully renovated to the modern era.
Constructed in 1905, the property has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, four car parking spaces, multiple living areas, four open fireplaces, a swimming pool, tennis court and manicured lawns. Next to the homestead is a separate two-bedroom cottage.
