The southbound carriageway will be closed and the highway reduced to one lane in each direction for about four kilometres, to allow for important repair work to be carried out.
This work will include the removal of an existing bridge joint and the installation of new steel reinforcement and concrete formwork on the underside of the bridge.
During the work southbound traffic will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway.
The southbound carriageway will be closed to traffic for 24 hours a day for approximately three weeks from January 27.
Changed traffic control and a reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
