Since his first exhibition in 1982, Mr Crisp has held several solo and group exhibitions across the world. He has been a part of international trade shows in Australia and the USA as well.

Feeling humbled after receiving the honour, he recalls his journey as an artist spanning over decades as associating with creative and like-minded people all around the world.

The Yass Valley based artist has always been fascinated with glass sculpting. "The process that I follow is the slumped glass concept that dates back to ancient Egypt or Greece. Kiln fire is used and glass is heated to a temperature where it becomes pliable and gravitational force is used as it collapses into a shape," he said.

Mr Crisp has been commissioned to create glass giftware and tableware for His Royal Highness Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall on various occasions since the mid-2000s.

"It was commissioned for them to celebrate their marriage in 2005. I hand-delivered the tableware to Clarence House in 2006 and met Prince Charles at that time. It was a special time and we ended up discussing reforestation among other things," he said.

The artist has also been commissioned to produce work for former president George W Bush and the Royal Families of Luxembourg, Spain and Thailand.

Mr Crisp's work has been featured in many public and private collections including National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, The Australian Britain Society in Canberra, Harrods in London, Bombay Sapphire in London, National Glass Collection in Wagga Wagga and The Latrobe Collection in Melbourne.

He has also president of the Yass Music Club and encourages everyone to give back to the community.
