Wingecarribee Shire Council will host a breakfast with the local business community to discuss the next stage of the strategy following its adoption by council last month.
Key elements to be discussed include the development of an Action Plan to identify tasks, responsibilities and timeframes.
Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Duncan Gair said the strategy provides a 10-year blueprint for the Shire's economy.
"The Southern Highlands Destination Strategy will become an essential document for our region moving forward as it provides a whole of destination approach to our Shire," he said.
"It purposefully positions and pitches the Southern Highlands as an attractive investment destination, great place to work or learn and wonderful place to live and visit."
Based on four key pillars of People, Place, Prosperity and Partnership, the strategy looks at issues of economic, social, environmental, cultural and civic leadership.
Cr Gair said the strategy deliberately focused on the region's strengths and recommended protecting those areas that made the Southern Highlands special and unique.
"But that also means that we have to take action on areas of improvement such as re-balancing our ageing population while also driving economic growth in a sustainable and resilient manner."
Mayor Gair said that following the adoption of the strategy it was important to work with the business community to set a course of action.
"In partnership with local stakeholders, Council will now use this strategy to develop medium and long-term actions to plot a course for our Shire's shared future prosperity," he said.
"We're inviting any interested community members to join us as we take this first step together."
A Business Breakfast will be held for interested community members on Friday December 18, 2020 from 7.30am at the Mittagong RSL.
Bookings are essential and RSVP's close Midnight Friday December 11, 2020.
