Christ Church Bong Bong, had both its 175th anniversary and also the opening of its new hall on December 5.
The afternoon begun with those present treated to carols sung by five of The Highland Singers members under the leadership of John D'Arcy.
Reverend Dean Reilly, Pastor of Moss Vale Anglican Parish, also addressed the attendees.
He spoke about the longevity of the church and contemplated the number of local people who had worshipped there during that time, and how the new hall would facilitate that in the future.
Later on, there was a short talk on the history of the church - the oldest in the Highlands.
It noted the generous donation of Charles Throsby in donating the land and building the church, which was consecrated in 1845.
Recognition was also given to his wife Elizabeth Throsby, in creating and decorating the inside of the church as it appears today.
A presentation was made to thank those who were involved in instigating the process of grants to fund the construction of the hall.
Goulburn MP Wendy Tuckerman then spoke about her involvement in the initial stages of the grant process and recalled her viewing of the initial site.
She declared the new hall open and recognised the value it would have, not just for the congregation but for the local community as well.
A COVID safe afternoon tea followed, with attendees also being able to view a display of historical photos in the new hall.
Normal services will recommence at the church on Sunday, December 13 at 9am with everyone welcome.
