Hume Coal has called on the NSW Minister for Planning, the Hon. Rob Stokes, to clear the way for his department to create 700 'shovel ready' jobs for the Hume Project.

The project requires approval from the Independent Planning Commission, but it is awaiting the Final Assessment Report from Mr Stokes's department.
400 jobs will be created in construction for over two years and 300 high paid new jobs during the 20-year life of the project. Hume has more than 600 expressions of interest for employment to date.

The NSW Government has announced numerous infrastructure projects, but few of these are in the regions and Hume stands ready to participate in the economic recovery.
According to Hume Coal project director, Rod Doyle, the Hume Project does not require taxpayer funds, but it does require leadership to make those jobs opportunities available.
"We are 'shovel ready' to deliver 300 permanent high paid new jobs - $925 million in wages over the project life - and a substantial boost to local businesses to the tune of at least $42 million a year," he said.
