Further advice will be provided tomorrow. While the school site is non-operational, learning materials are available through the department's Learning from home website.
"NSW Health has requested anyone who has been unwell, even with the mildest symptoms or if you develop any symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness to be tested at a priority at one of the COVID-19 testing clinics.
"Further information about COVID-19 is available on the NSW Health website. The NSW Department of Education will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff is maintained. The safety and wellbeing of staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to. "
Parents of children who attend Southern Highlands Early Learning Childcare Centre on Beaconsfield Road, Moss Vale, were notified on Thursday afternoon (November 5) that the pre-school would also be closed on Friday (November 6)
A message to parents said:
"We have just been advised from the NSW Public Health Unit that we have had a parent attend the centre on Wednesday 4th November between 9-10am who has tested positive for COVID-19. Unfortunately we have not been given any more information regarding the circumstances (who, what room, what age etc.) We are waiting to be updated with the child's test results as soon as they are in."
The message went on to say:
"The child is considered a close contact and is isolating at home. The parent who tested positive for COVID-19 did attend Southern Highlands Early Childhood Learning Centre to drop of their child while they were infectious. This occurred on Wednesday 4th November between 9am and 10am. Any staff member, child or parent who was there at the time would be considered a casual contact. They are not required to isolate, but they will need to carefully monitor for symptoms and get tested if they experience even mild symptoms."
