A 21-year-old male traveling north on the Old Hume Highway was freed from a car following a head on collision.
A spokesperson from Hume Police District said that police are investigating whether speed was a factor.
The man was airlifted to hospital with non life threatening back injuries.
Police are currently processing the scene.

Emergency services are on the scene of an accident on the Old Hume Highway near Alpine.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said crews arrived on the scene of the two vehicle accident just after 1:30pm today. They said a man had been trapped in a vehicle but was now free. Two males are reported to be injured.
The spokesperson said one patient had serious injuries and the other had minor injuries.
