His community have gone to bat for him and been given the green light in the renaming of Centennial Park to Brian Martin Oval.
A very humble man, Brian Martin avoids self promotion at all cost.
He's all about unselfishly raising up the cricket community without seeking praise.
But, now his name will stand the test of time in the Southern Highland cricketing community.
Martin said it's a great honour for the oval to be renamed after him.
"I'm very honoured, but I'm embarrassed at the same time (laughs)," Martin said.
"It's not me to be seeking this kind of status. It's a lot of recognition, but it's very nice that the respect is there.
"I really do feel appreciative of everyone that put in a lot of hard work for it to happen.
"Matt Watson, Barry Knight, Aaron de Jager are just a few of many to thank. Too many names, but I thank them all very much."
Leading the charge in the redevelopment of the oval 12 years ago, Martin loves the oval and enjoys knowing his beloved Bowral Blues Cricket Club have a place to call home for years to come.
"The Highlands District Cricket Association (HDCA) weren't going to let us compete in the competition unless we got an oval," Martin said.
"A lot of people worked on the oval. It was only half a field at the time.
"To me, it's a home for our club. Knowing everyone in our club has a place to call home is enough for me."
