That is definitely the recipe for a great day out.
And in the year like no other it is certain to be a welcome opportunity.
The best news is that it is on offer in the Southern Highlands.
A little fact I didn't previously mention is that it also promises a glimpse into a bygone era. The home on the property was built in 1949 and the garden soon after with a emphasise on connection between the indoors and outdoors.
Co-owners of Beatrice Park (formerly Eugenie Lodge) Justin Hutchinson and John Bower will swing open the gates to their stunning property every weekend for the month of October (except Saturday, October 17).
They want to share the the appeal of the stunning grounds and tranquility of a the property that they have long enjoyed.
The open garden coincides the the 60th anniversary of the property's success in the once popular Bowral Festival of Flowers in which the property took out the coveted honour for Best Open Garden. The The prize went to the property owner of the time Mrs L E Whittle in the category of part-time gardener.

Justin said he was also hoping to be able to provide visitors with the option for a cup of tea, coffee or cordial and a biscuit.
"Just like all those years ago when, as a little boy with my mum, we traveled down by steam train to see Eugenie Lodge as it was then," he said.
Justin was quick to ensure CovidSafe measures would be in place.
He said that someone would be at the gate entrance during this period to monitor the number of people visiting at any one time and the bottom gate to the property would be closed.
The number of people on the property would be limited to 30, plus a few volunteers at any time.
Volunteers are still needed to assist with the open garden. If you are interested please contact Justin on 0419 287 985.
