Wednesday, August 5 at Bowral Bowling Club saw Jim Starkey and Robin Staples defeated Neville Tanner and Clive Neutze 20-18 in the match of the day.
The first half of the match had Starkey and Staples on a high and they could do nothing wrong.
Leading 12-5 after eleven ends, they then had no trouble going to a 18- 9 lead after 14 ends.
Then Tanner and Neutze effectively started to combine and pulled off some top shots to narrow the gap to be down 19-18 with one end to play.
On the last end Tanner and Neutze just missed a chance by a fraction and Starkey and Staples won the end by one shot to take the match by two shots which turned out to be a excellent match.

Club news:
Bowls was washed out on Saturday, August 8.
A round of the championship triples was set to be played.
Bowls secretary Dan Ticehurst has stated that with the coronavirus pandemic it has thrown the championships matches in disarray and trying to organise 12 months programming into six months is not a easy task.
Playing championships will be a very congested bowls program, so for the rest of the year players are asked to check the notice board on a regular basis.
