The decision was made by council at its most recent meeting on July 22.
The resolution also contained provisions to consider funding implications of the recently declared 'climate emergency'.
WinZero, formed to inspire and lead the Wingecarribee community as a whole to be net zero emissions by 2050 (or before), will have an opportunity to present to council in relation to its plans to reduce emissions, and outline developing projects in areas such as energy, waste, regenerative landscapes, water and transport.
WinZero spokesperson, Gaye White, said the group welcomed council's decision.
"We congratulate council for making a positive step to improve the local environment," she said.
"This move will help to promote resilience, and a sustainable, enduring future for all our local communities."
The WinZero AGM will be held on August 3 when a new committee will be elected and the vision for WinZero's mission and planned actions will be discussed.
"Following the climate march earlier this year, an enthusiastic agglomeration of environmental groups has been working hard to refine plans aligned to emissions reduction and environmental improvement," Ms White said.
Wingecarribee Environment and Sustainability Committee chair and councillor Larry Whipper, said he was pleased with the support from his fellow councillors.
"The unanimous support that my Notice of Motion received is very encouraging. I believe this shows that we as an elected body have acknowledged that climate change is real, and that we are prepared to take our inter-generational responsibilities seriously," he said.
"After years of environmental advocacy, it is very gratifying to receive such an endorsement from my fellow councillors in tackling the challenges before us.
"We will be calling for expressions of interest to join the Climate Change Advisory Panel soon and, in the meantime, I welcome the interest and encouragement of WinZero in helping me raise awareness regarding this critical issue".
