Cyclist Peter Donaldson was one of two people who helped Kevin Wellings on Sunday June 7, 2020 but insists it was the efforts of a young woman who should be praised.
"I had set off from Bowral Pools at 6:30 am and I would've been on Bong Bong track near the Model Aero Club at about 6:50 am.
"It was dark but in the headlight of the bike I could see a figure standing there but I didn't know who it was.
Mr Donaldson said a young woman had found Kevin laying on the track while she was on her morning walk and was supporting him.
"She had found him lying on the track and managed to get him on his feet and call an ambulance," he said.
"I stopped and helped hold him up.
"She did a fantastic job helping him and at some point gave him her jacket."
According to Mr Donaldson, the mystery walker said she walks on the track a few times a week, appears to be 25 - 35 years of age with blonde hair, and speaks with what sounds like a German accent.
"She was the one who helped and deserves the recognition."
Mr Donaldson said he was saddened to hear that Kevin Wellings had since passed away.
