NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, achievements and their continuing contributions to the country and society.
Due to the risk of COVID-19, the National NAIDOC Committee postponed the celebration of 2020 NAIDOC Week from July to November 8-15, 2020.
Applications are open for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations to support the costs of NAIDOC activities across Australia.
All events and activities will need to meet government guidance aimed at reducing the risks associated with COVID-19, including requirements for physical distancing.
Organisations that had submitted an application for the NAIDOC Local Grants Round that closed in March 2020 will need to submit a new application.
In 2020, the Australian Government has committed $1.4 million for the NAIDOC local grant activities through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy.
In 2019, more than 600 organisations across Australia received funding to support their NAIDOC events.
Visit the Grants Connect site for information on 2020 NAIDOC Local Grants funding, including the application kit.
Applications close on August 17 at 7pm.
The 2020 National NAIDOC Week theme, 'Always was, Always will be.' recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.
