WinZero launched last week and already there has been plenty of community support.
Co-convenor Derek White said following Extinction Rebellion's climate emergency march earlier this year, it was clear there were many groups in the region that wanted to "have a better environment in the Southern Highlands".
And so a number of environmental and sustainability groups have amalgamated to form an alliance which Mr White said would provide one strong voice to speak to council and the community.
He said WinZero had engaged with all councillors and was currently working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with council to determine how they can work together to achieve the goal of reducing carbon emissions.
WinZero will also have different working groups which will look at many areas including renewable energy usage, landcare, urban green spaces, better building practices, transport alternatives, regenerative agriculture, waste management and community gardens.
With public gatherings still limited as a result of the COVID pandemic, Mr White said they hoped to be able to hold a number of relevant events in the near future.
Some of the ideas for such events include a day with information on electric vehicles or a regenerative agriculture tour to "show people what is possible."
Mr White said while the organisation was new, they also had some short term projects planned to "help people achieve the target".
"It's a long road ahead of us. It's not going to happen overnight...[but we've] been very encouraged by the positive feedback we've had to date.
"We can only get bigger and better."
