The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) released its Taxation Statistics 2017-2018 on July 17. The data was based on the tax returns of more then 14.3 million Australians.
The data revealed that more than 2000 people who earnt between $100,000 and $1 million per year paid no income tax.
In the Southern Highlands the 2576 postcode has an average taxable income of $71,978. The median taxable income came in at $41,914.
The 2577 postcode had an average taxable income of $59,207 and 2575 had a average income of $61,702.
The postcode with the highest taxable income in Australia was Double Bay, 2028, with an average income of $242,428.
The average taxable income for the 2580 postcode was $53,531. The number of individuals lodging an income tax return in the region was 16,307. The median taxable income was $45,139 with average total deductions of $2221.
The Crookwell postcode 2583 had an average taxable income of $46,518.
The average total business income in the 2580 area was $80,901 with the median at $29,466. The average total business expenses for the region were $65,103.
