A spokesperson from BoM said a low pressure system off the South Coast may impact the Southern Highlands with showers and strong winds.
Tomorrow July 14 has a very high, near 100 per cent, chance of showers for Bowral. Winds up to 35km/h are forecast before dawn.
The BoM has issued a severe weather warning for areas on the coastal fringe and a warning for sheep graziers in the Southern Tablelands.
In response to severe weather warnings Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has mobilised two water-based flood rescue strike teams in preparation for heavy rainfall on the south coast where the bulk of the rain is expected.
FRNSW commissioner Paul Baxter said the strike teams had the capability to respond to a wide range of emergencies in the event of heavy rain and flooding from water rescue to establishing safe zones to assist the NSW State Emergency Service (SES).
"Whilst the NSW SES is the combat agency for flood rescue in NSW, FRNSW provides them with support in weather emergencies where there is high demand," he said.
"In the event of rapid onset of extreme weather, FRNSW also has the capability to conduct flood water rescue and to render the situation safe until the SES arrives."
The SES has advised people to prepare their homes:
- Check and clean gutters
- Secure any outdoor items including furniture and trampolines
- Move vehicles undercover and away from trees
