The 15-year-old has always loved singing but was hesitant to perform in public.

"Richard [Lane] was visiting my school and heard me singing in the play area. He asked who was singing and told me I should enter the competition," Milly said.

Encouraged by her piano teacher to enter the Vocal Muster competition, Milly did just that.

"I was very nervous as I have never felt confident with lots of people. I won the first heat of the competition singing Sol Mio Ben.

"I won singing lessons with Richard Lane and joined the Muster in September 2018."

Being a part of the Vocal Muster has helped Milly not only with her singing, but has also improved her confidence.

"I've made friends and realised it doesn't matter if you are not perfect and sometimes get things wrong. Everyone makes mistakes, [just] as long as you are enjoying yourself.

"Richard and the muster have helped me so much. I am happy to perform on stage and feel confident I can do my best."

With a variety of musical interests, Milly said once she completed high school, she hoped to attend a performing arts university.

Milly will be a part of the Wingecarribee Vocal Muster's virtual concert this weekend.

"I think the virtual concert is a great idea. It means we can still perform and people can still see acts on stage."

Open to all types of music, Milly said she did not have any particular musical influences, although she did enjoy listening to Brendon Urie from Panic at the Disco.

"When I was younger and felt sad, listening to him always made me feel happier. I went to his concert in Sydney and really enjoyed it."

The virtual concert will be on July 18 with 10 students performing a few songs each. The concert will be broadcast online, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
