Emergency services responded to a Triple Zero (000) call about the fire just after 3.30pm on Friday, July 10.
A Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crew arrived at the scene at about 3.40pm.
According to a FRNSW spokesman, a fire had started in a room on the top-floor of the motel.
The FRNSW spokesman said the room sustained a small amount of fire and water damage.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said the occupant of the room was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Bowral and District Hospital.
A Southern Highlands Police spokesman said other motel patrons helped extinguish the fire.
The spokesman said police would speak to the occupant of the room and conduct an investigation.
