Community groups, schools, sports clubs, cultural groups and volunteer organisations are some of the local groups set to receive crucial funding as part of council's 2020/21 Wingecarribee Community Assistance Scheme.

A total of 51 local community projects totaling just over $115,000 were allocated funding as part of the annual Wingecarribee Community Assistance Scheme.
Of the 51 grants allocated, 21 will receive cash donations of up to $600 while the remaining recipients will receive grants ranging from $812 to $7000.
Included within the allocation are two dedicated environmental-themed projects which will be funded via council's Environment Levy.
The announcement was made at last Wednesday evening's Ordinary Meeting of Council.
Wingecarribee Shire Mayor and Chair of the Community Assistance Scheme Committee, Councillor Duncan Gair said the spread of grants would benefit dozens of Highland organisations and educational services.
"The Community Assistance Scheme allows our Highlands community to work with council by implementing projects that due to limited resources would otherwise not be possible," he said.
A presentation ceremony will take place in early August during Local Government Week, subject to COVID-19 restrictions. Further details will be announced in due course.
To assist community organisations in applying for grants, unallocated funds will be used to run professional grant writing workshops at the start of the 2021/2022 application period.
Mayor Gair said the Community Assistance Scheme allowed council to "recognise and acknowledge our shire's community and volunteer groups."
