After 15 years of talk, Wingecarribee Shire Council is about to put their money where their mouth is and stump up for a sports hub at Moss Vale's Lackey Park.

The sporting hub is set to become the home ground to several sports clubs and provide competition and/or practice facilities for others.
The park will also consist of a playground, walking track, exercise stations and more.
The Lackey Park Sports Hub was one of the items on the agenda for the Wingecarribee Shire Council meeting on June 24.
At the meeting councillor Ken Halstead said that master plan would be exhibited in the appropriate way and would generate community feedback but wanted to make one change.
"It's a very comprehensive plan but I do want suggest that on the plan we insert the words Ross Bull Oval for just the cricket part of the ground," he said.
"I think it's appropriate and this would get public participation."
Councillor Grahame Andrews said that he didn't believe now was the time to insert Mr Bull's name.
"It's with the greatest respect, I don't believe it should be inserted now. There is plenty of time when this becomes a reality for that type of discussion to take place," he said.
"I want to thank Mr Paull and all those involved in this because they've come up with what I believe is a terrific concept."
Councillor Peter Nelson also spoke in support of the Lackey Park Sporting Hub master plan.
"It's good to see that the various sports have been consulted in the masterplan and I look forward to that going on exhibition and coming back with comment from the community," he said.
Councillor Ian Scandrett said it was a "very good report".
"I note that the consultation has taken place with the basketball and indoor sports people next door," he said.
"It's an exciting concept and I hope we can move forward with that."
Moss Vale Cricket Club president said that the sporting hub was something that had been talked about for many years.
"It's something that will not only benefit the club but also the Highlands District Cricket Association," he said.
However not everyone feels included in the Lackey Park masterplan.
Director of the Moss Vale Basketball Stadium, Paul Barcicki has been lobbying for an approval to add the basketball stadium into the sport hub package.
"We've been trying since 2005," Mr Barcicki said.
"There were long discussions with people back in those days.
"In 2008, several prominent Highland sporting figures including Simon Taufel and Peter Mitchell started a campaign for a indoor sports centre in Moss Vale.
"In 2018, the concept was developed far enough that the minister of sport, Stuart Ayres supported it and offered $6.5 million.
"The Wingecarribee Shire Council needed to commit to one million dollars at the time, it is now up to two million dollars, to get the project going.
"The council didn't come up with that money and we lost the six and a half million.
"Several indoor sporting codes in the Highlands don't have anywhere to play.
"Outdoor sporting upgrades have been allowed in this years budget (Lackey Park project). Both of these projects will go hand in hand with one another."
Councillors voted unanimously to place the concept master plan design on public exhibition for a period of 28 days.
A council spokesperson said that the masterplan provides "a local sporting hub that will create a sports precinct attracting regional, state and national sporting events across multiple disciplines."
