The monies were secured as part of the Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund and will be combined with an existing $3.7 million council has already set aside towards the renovations in the 2020/21 Operational Plan and Budget.
As part of the upgrades a new air conditioning system, sound and lighting equipment, tiered seating and improved acoustics will be installed.
Heritage elements including the building facade will also be protected and rejuvenated ensuring the building is returned to its former glory.

On completion the renovated hall will be able to accommodate a wide range of musical and theatre productions, conferences and community events and will once again be a major drawcard for local and touring productions.
The renovations will form part of council's largest ever annual capital works program with works anticipated to commence next year.

Last week the tender for upgrades to the cattle yards at the Southern Regional Livestock Exchange (SRLX) was also opened.
This tender follows consultation with key stakeholders on how the saleyards could be improved.
Key upgrades sought as part of the tender include the demolition and replacement of the existing cattle yards and pens and replacement of the loading ramps. Other elements of the proposed works include the construction of an air-operated draft yard, raised public access and buyer and auctioneer walkways.
Once completed these upgrades will elevate the council-managed SRLX to one of the premier cattle saleyards in the state.
I would encourage any suitably qualified local contractors to throw their hat into the ring and apply before the tender closes on July 21, 2020.
Details of the tender can be found at www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/tenders-expressions-of-interest.

All things being equal and next Wednesday's Ordinary Council Meeting on June 24 will be our final remote meeting of the year.
As social distancing restrictions ease, plans are underway to return to 'in person' meetings from July.
These 'virtual meetings' have been a learning experience for all involved and I would like to thank everyone who has taken part these past weeks including presenters, members of the public, staff, councillors and viewers for their patience and understanding.
