Many problems are caused by drinking too much even on one occasion, and these problems are preventable. These problems include injury from violence and falls. Anti-social behaviour problems can also occur with friends, family and third parties.
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) recommend for healthy men and women, drinking no more than four standard drinks on a single occasion reduces the risk of alcohol-related injury arising from that occasion.
Local police will be conducting checks on licensed premises, especially over the long weekend, to not only ensure physical distancing due to the current pandemic but to also ensure the good behaviour of patrons within licensed premises
If your speech, balance, coordination or behaviour is noticeably impaired bar staff, security or police will by law, refuse entry or service at the licensed premises. Police want to remind the community that there are strong penalties in place for people who misbehave in pubs and clubs with on the spot fines for of $550 for patrons who fail to leave when requested by staff or security in licensed premises.
