SHBG CEO Charlotte Webb said Botanic gardens were the living heart of any community.
"It is anticipated our playground will help children experience the beautiful world of nature and gardens," she said.
Hidden Teddy Bears scattered around the established portion of the gardens, picnic areas, various garden precincts and a Labrynthe in the ground are among the other attractions at the gardens.
The SHBG, located on the corner of Old South and Kangaloon Roads, is open seven days from 9am to 5pm.
The Botanic Gardens nursery, also located on the site, is opened 9am to 3pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of each week, weather permitting.
The SHBG board is now looking for a coffee cart operator for Saturday mornings at the playground. Anyone interested should contact Anne Kraghe on 0456 752 595 or admin@shbg.com.au
