"We're only going to get a little bit," said longtime district grazier, Ian McLennan, from Connen Hill on the Braidwood Road.
"But that's perfect. All our dual purpose crops are in around this district now, and most already grazing them. They were just starting to dry out on top so it's good timing. It's fantastic."
He said the long range forecasts had not been this positive, so he was glad they were wrong.
NSW Farmers Goulburn branch chair Margaret Cameron said that the Central West would get a lot more rain, which she was happy to see, but that she hoped it would be enough in the Southern Tablelands.
"It will be possibly not enough in this area - this rain helpful but certainly need more to get good winter forage crops growing, especially as the weather gets colder," said Mrs Cameron.
But she agreed that things were looking much brighter than in recent years.
"This is one of the best autumns we've had, especially as it comes after the drought," she said.
"This year we've had more rain than usual at this time, and dam storage and household domestic water is quite good."
Today across the region, there's a 95 percent chance of between 10-20mm of rain, with potential thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Thursday looks significantly colder (a maximum of 12-14 degrees across most centres), with 95-100 percent chance of 10-20mm of rain, and heavier falls further west.
