Matthew A was all ready for the debut 2020 Highlands Storm Junior season, but due to the current epidemic, that has been delayed.
"I'm pretty disappointed," Matthew said.
"But I'm keeping fit and I'm keen to play.
"I'm doing my own footy training with my dad twice a week, and am doing home workouts.
"I do the same workouts as I would for Athletics to strengthen muscles."
Matthew has been putting in a lot of work, even before self-isolation was a known phrase.
"I've put a lot of work into improving my skills," Matthew said.
"I can't wait to get back into practice session and I'm really looking forward to making some big tackles!"
As Matthew is also an athlete, his sporting idols growing up weren't just from the great game of Rugby League. He's honed his skills by emulating the greats.
"For Athletics, I've always looked up to the legend, Usain Bolt," Matthew said.
"His hard work and dedication to his training have made him the champion that he is.
"I try to work hard at training so it'll pay off later on the track or in a game.
"In Rugby League, my favourite player is James Tedesco because he's one of the best attacking players and in defence he comes up with big tackles.
"He also plays fullback which is my favourite position."
