However every cloud has its silver lining and for couples who were due to marry at a mass wedding ceremony on April 5, a silver lining has appeared.
Elope to the Country, the business behind the mass wedding has confirmed that big day will now be held on December 6 2020.
Coronavirus updates:
The mass wedding was to benefit the RFS after fires decimated parts of the Southern Highlands.
A statement from the Elope To The Country Belinda Minns and Glenn Millanta announced that the mass weddings will go ahead with a new venue and date.
"All contributors have also confirmed they are still on board and we're expecting the day to be bigger and better than before," they said.
"We will likely open opportunities for other couples to join us; and we'll keep you posted if and when the time arises.
"To the RFS we still have your backs too. We are committed to giving you all the most amazing day and support our heroes once this craziness dies down."
Elope to the Country is designed to give couples the chance to marry in a mid-week, small intimate or elopement style ceremony in the Southern Highlands region or in Camden.
Couples who would like to get involved in the mass wedding in December can email Belinda and Glenn on elopetothecountry@gmail.com or contact Glenn on 0426 821 978 or Belinda on 0410518212 as soon as possible.
