Sure I need to keep up-to-speed with what is happening - not only because it is my job, but because we all need to know what is happening in our world and what we should do.
I have to confess there are times when I feel completely overwhelmed - mostly from the sense of never knowing what will be next. Preparing for the worst, hoping for the best and seeking anything that reminds me that we are all in this together.
There are two special reading options that have crossed my path in recent day, and I am incredibly grateful.
One is a recently introduced column written by a colleague on the South Coast. John Hanscombe's Pandemic Diary began on March 17. It is the account of a self-confessed 'grumpy old man' coming to terms with a new work environment and pretty much a new world (at the moment).
It is a column that makes me feel like I am not alone in this ever-changing new way of life. I feel certain things and the next thing I see it in writing in John's daily diary entry.
We are sharing it on our Southern Highland News website every day because it is so relatable to most people, and because it gives me a much-needed laugh. Please do yourself a favour and read this column.
The other written gem I have come to love in recent week's is a blog by a young woman (who hails from the Shoalhaven) who is now living in Italy with her husband and father-in-law.
Anna Milne shares a beautiful story of daily life in lockdown in one of the countries that has been hardest hit by the Caronavirus at this point in time.
I love that, despite the challenging situation, she has found a way to lift spirits with her words.
I won't give too much away but I will just say her father-in-law sounds like a real character, and I was truly laughing with her, not at her, when she shared the story about the day she dressed in her finest to step outside for a trip to the supermarket.
All I can say to Anna is don't forget to keep track of your calendar, even if every day does roll into the next like time stands still.
To both Anna and John - thank you for the great reading material and a little light-hearted relief, an perspective, in challenging times. Check out Anna's blog here: https://annaareyouokay2020.wordpress.com/
