Councillor Halstead will move a motion with the following points at the next ordinary meeting on Wednesday, March 25:
- That all council meetings after March 25 be postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus health threat (pandemic).
- That council call upon the NSW state government to postpone the local government election in September 2020 until 2021.
- That all business be transacted by the mayor Duncan Gair and deputy mayor Garry Turland, on behalf of the elected council, and the general manager provide administrative support only and not be part of the decision making.
"The issue is one of common sense, whereby I'm trying to enable a council to protect the health and welfare of local residents and ratepayers," Cr Halstead said.
