The Garden Party, will be held in Bundanoon on Saturday March 21, from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
The Bundanoon Garden club was founded at a meeting held at the Royal (now Bundanoon) Hotel on November 26 1970. It was originally known as the Bundanoon Beautification and Garden Club.
Though the word Beautification was dropped in 1980, it continued its work of beautifying the Bundanoon village - and still does.
The founder of the Club was Mrs Beryl Gosbell, who with her husband George owned the Royal Hotel.
They also owned "Killarney" which is now the property called 'Quest for Life'.
The early meetings of the club were held in the hotel and at Killarney. They were later held in club members' homes.
Now the Bundanoon Soldiers' Memorial Hall is packed on the first Thursday of every month for the club's meetings.
The Club will start its year of celebrations with a special gala garden party to be followed by a number of other events later in the year.
Entry tickets will cost $45 for members and their guests and $50 for everyone else and will cover the cost of catered food and drinks.
Like any proper birthday party, there will be a birthday cake to be cut.
A historical display will show early photographs and records of the club's activities over the years.
The Clear Strings classical music trio from Wollongong will enhance the garden party atmosphere and a lone local piper, Hamish Dawson, in true Bundanoon will conclude the proceedings with stirring Scottish tunes to see guests on their way.
The Bundanoon Garden Club hope that members of the wider Southern Highlands communities will join in this happy event.
It will be a chance for people to get together and celebrate gardens and gardeners.
