Council is currently constructing a stormwater box culvert and associated roadworks in Braemar Avenue however the continued heavy rain has caused significant impact to the construction site.

In anticipation of last weekend's rain Council took the pre-emptive decision to temporary close the road and temporary 'side-track'. Given the forecast for further rain Council has extended this temporary closure in the interests of public safety.

Braemar Avenue will subsequently be closed at the creek crossing located immediately west of the Hume Highway intersection.

This closure will allow Council and its contractors to safely install the new stormwater box culvert infrastructure.

Two detours are available throughout the temporary closure. The first detour can be accessed through Willow Vale via Swan Street, Railway Terrace, Willow Street, Orient Street and onto Drapers Road.

A second detour is available through Colo Vale via Church Avenue, Wattle Street, Pine Street, Azalea Street and Drapers Road.

Heavy vehicles are advised to use the Colo Vale detour and avoid the use of exhaust brakes in residential areas.

All motorists are asked to exercise caution and drive to the conditions when using these detours.

Council is aware that Braemar Avenue is an important route for the Braemar industrial area, local residents and businesses and is working to re-open the road as soon as possible.

We apologise for the temporary delay and inconvenience caused to motorists and residents.

Works are expected to be completed by mid-May 2020. All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.
