A local musical group has taken every step to ensure that its support for Rural Fire Services in the Southern Highlands can become a valuable resource in the line of duty.

Members of the Wingecarribee Vocal Muster sang their hearts out on January 26 in an effort to draw attention and raise money for the region's RFS units.
Their Australia Day performance at Berrima helped raise $7000 with the assistance of Berrima Rotary Club who helped take up the collection.
The money has since been used to purchase 19 Kestrel-3000 units to assist the region's RFS volunteers in the line of duty.

The Kestrel-3000 is a waterproof pocket wind metre which measures wind speed, temperature, relative humidity, heat, stress and dew point.
The Vocal Muster, led by renowned world-class opera performer Richard Lane, provides mentoring and opportunities for young people of the Southern Highlands to hone and showcase their vocal talents.
Mr Lane said the fundraising effort was driven by the Vocal Muster students who were eager to show support to local RFS volunteers.
He said they were conscious about making sure the funds raised directly benefited the volunteers on the ground and they wanted a quick turn around from collecting the funds to making a donation to the RFS.
"Volunteers at the various RFS units all indicated they wanted a Kestrel-3000, so that's what we got them. Every RFS unit in the Southern Highlands will be presented with one."
